An immersive museum experience: The Deutschlandmuseum takes visitors on an innovative journey through 2,000 years of history.
The Deutschlandmuseum aims to provide an accessible introduction to the history of Germany. Through interactive and engaging elements, visitors gain a relatively quick overview of the most important stages in German history. In this way, the museum offers exciting first points of contact - particularly for people who have not previously engaged much with history. Those points of contact can then be explored in greater depth.
As visitors walk through the various rooms, they literally journey through German history. The interactive approach is particularly well-suited for families and first-time visitors: the exhibits can be touched and explored. For example, visitors can walk through an ancient forest, a medieval castle or a shopping arcade from the Wilhelminian era. Sounds and even specially composed scents transport guests back to the respective era of contemporary history. Authentic exhibits alternate with interactive installations.
The Deutschlandmuseum divides 2,000 years of history into twelve epochs, each of which visitors can explore: Germania, the Early Middle Ages, the High Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, the German Confederation, the German Empire, the Weimar Republic, National Socialism, the Division of Germany, Two States and a United Germany.
