At the Naschmarkt in Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg, Berlin confectioners offer treats such as cakes, cookies and chocolates.
The Naschmarkt ("naschen" means "to nibble on something sweet") invites all sweet tooths to Markthalle Neun in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Every country has its own sweet specialty. But culinary traditions transcend borders: they are shaped by exchange, migration and evolution. And behind every sweet delicacy lies a story, whether it’s alfajores and amaretti, baklava and brigadeiros, churros, cheesecake, ladoo, lokma, mochi or marzipan. Recipes for sweet treats were introduced via ancient trade routes or traveled with people, refined, passed down and reinterpreted. These sweet temptations have also arrived in Berlin, which is why Berlin’s Naschmarkt is now called Naschmarkt International, where talented bakers demonstrate how they are transforming sweet cultures with their skills and an open mind.
