The Open Air Gallery turns the Oberbaumbrücke into an art mile. More than a hundred artists display their paintings, photographs and sculptures on the distinctive bridge between Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.
The aim of the Open Air Gallery is to stimulate the dialogue between artists and beholders. Even though the festival's popularity has grown over the years, it has maintained its original concept: Both professionals and young talents are given the chance to present their art in the categories paintings/graphics, sculptures and photography.
During the festival, visitors have the opportunity to get involved. A 120 metre long canvas invites everyone to paint, draw or doodle. Since its premiere in 2002, the Open Air Gallery has been held twice every year. It was initiated by the Stadtteilausschuss Kreuzberg e.V. which still organizes the Open Air Gallery together with a team of volunteers.
