The Kenako Festival takes place each year on Berlin's Alexanderplatz. A traditional marketplace with tents and a live stage program offers visitors a taste of Africa.
The flair of Africa comes to Berlin: the Kenako Festival celebrates the diversity of African cultures with a diverse entertainment program. At the marketplace, visitors can buy handmade artwork, clothing, cosmetics and culinary treats from all corners of the African continent. Meanwhile, a cultural program of music, dance and theater will take place on the stage. Workshops, readings, film screenings and discussion rounds are on the agenda as well as part of the Global Learning project.
Bringing Cultures Together
The Kenako Africa Festival shows the colorful and diverse cultural life in Africa, but also wants to draw attention to some existing challenges. The aim is to bring different groups of people closer together, and the organizers encourage discussions and exchange across cultures.
