Within 48 hours, about 300 cultural institutions and societies display the diversity of Neukölln's artistic potential at the arts and culture festival.
Since 1999, the 48 Hours Neukölln festival has stood for an open approach to culture. The program consists of curated pieces and open submissions, offering a platform for both professional artists and newcomers. The festival is organized by the Neukölln Cultural Network.
Under the theme "Out/Side/In," 48 Hours Neukölln 2026 explores the multifaceted relationships between the inside and the outside, belonging and separation. The festival views boundaries not as fixed dividing lines, but as provisional markers that shift, overlap and take on new forms. The artists explore identity, social structures and cultural transitions.
Yet, compared to other major arts events in Berlin, the festival operates on a rather modest budget. For this reason, the festival relies heavily on the dedication and initiative of the participants, who organize their events mostly without financial support and, in most cases, without substantial additional revenue.
