Highlights of the Berlin culture program in January: Green Week, Tanztage, CTM Festival, Transmediale, Sixday Race and more
The International Green Week in Berlin is considered the world's biggest consumer fair for the food, agricultural, and horticultural industries.
For ten days, the Green Week (Grüne Woche) trade fair focuses on the topics of nutrition, agriculture, and horticulture. In 2026, Green Week celebrated its 100th anniversary. Visitors can explore various themed worlds in the halls of the exhibition center in Berlin. In addition, different regions of Germany and countries from all over the world showcase their culinary offerings. The official partner state for Green Week 2027 has not yet been announced. Eating and sampling also play a major role in the market hall, where street food trends and tried-and-tested classics are on offer.
In the "grünerleben" exhibition area, visitors will find information and inspiration for a sustainable lifestyle. Recycling, urban gardening, and regional food are just some of the topics covered. Those who want to make their homes beautiful can find inspiration in the "Garden, House & Yard" section. Whether it's patio furniture, kitchens, conservatories, or flower bulbs—here, everything revolves around beautifying your own four walls.
Every year, the Flower Hall at Green Week is an absolute must-see for every visitor. In addition to colorful garden arrangements, there is a stage program on gardening, garden shows, and interesting facts about urban gardening. Exhibitors in the Flower Hall include allotment garden associations, the Central Horticultural Association, Berlin Zoo, and Grün Berlin GmbH. Thousands of early bloomers are on display in the Flower Hall under a central theme.
During Green Week, numerous four-legged friends also reside at the exhibition grounds. In the large animal hall, breeders present cattle, horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats. Interested visitors can learn interesting facts about breeding, husbandry, and care. In the "Farm Experience" hall, topics such as responsible animal husbandry in modern agriculture, nature conservation, and reliable food supply are discussed.
Students interested in training in a profession related to nutrition, agriculture, or gastronomy can gain insights at the "young generation hub" experience and training hall. Trainees talk about their work and answer questions. Students can try things out for themselves at various stations.
The International Green Week Berlin can now look back on 100 years of eventful history. What began as a simple local commodity exchange has become the most important international trade fair for the food industry, agriculture, and horticulture. Since 1926, more than 72,000 exhibitors from 116 countries have presented a comprehensive range of products from all continents to over 29 million trade and private visitors.
