In 2026, the Hamburger Bahnhof will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special anniversary program.
On November 3, 1996, the Hamburger Bahnhof opened its doors as a museum for contemporary art and has since established itself as one of the most important venues for contemporary art in Germany and Europe. To mark its 30th anniversary, the National Gallery of Contemporary Art is presenting a year-long program of celebrations with eight new exhibitions, performances, concerts, and an international conference. Popular formats such as Open House and Berlin Beats will also be continued and expanded.
The highlight of the anniversary year is the festival weekend from 14 to 15 November 2026. From 11 a.m. on Saturday until 6 p.m. on Sunday, the museum will remain open continuously for 30 hours. The programme includes night-time guided tours of the exhibitions, performances, films and a vinyl listening night. During the “endless tour”, visitors can explore the museum and its exhibitions at their leisure. The open studio in the Rieckhallen will host a variety of events around the clock. Tents will also be available at night for camping and resting. On Sunday morning, there will be a guided tour in pyjamas. Artist talks, curator-led tours and concerts round off the programme.
