Christmas Market in Spandau

In Advent, the streets and alleys in the old town of Spandau change into a beautiful Christmas world complete with market stalls and a renaissance fair.

Its location in the old town of Spandau - a district on the western outskirts of Berlin - makes this traditional Christmas market such a unique experience. With many market stalls within sight of the tall and festively decorated Christmas tree, vendors offer all kinds of Christmas decorations, gifts, foods and drinks all week long. The market is particularly nice for families.

The Christmas market in Spandau is one of the most traditional and most beautiful in Berlin. Around the St. Nikolai church, a historic market with artisans and craftsmen is set up. Outside this market, fairground people, musicians and entertainers help visitors get into the Christmas spirit. A stage programme including sing-alongs with Santa Claus, who also collects Christmas wishes, are aimed at the younger market-goers.

Although the Spandau Christmas market isn't exactly in the heart of Berlin, it is quite easy to reach by public transport. With S Bahn, U Bahn and regional train it takes only 15 to 25 minutes from the city centre, depending on where you start the journey.
