The Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus is one of the buildings in Berlin's government district and is located directly on the Spree River.

The Berlin Wall once stood where the building now houses the Parliamentary Library and the Parliamentary Archives. The building, designed by Stephan Braunfels, is named in honor of the German politician and women's rights activist Marie Elisabeth Lüders.

Together with the Paul-Löbe-Haus and the Federal Chancellery, the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus forms the so-called "Band des Bundes", which is intended to symbolize the bridging of the once separated halves of the city. The fact that the Berlin Wall ran directly along the current location of the building was taken as an opportunity to recreate the fall of the Wall inside the building in order to create a memorial.

Architectural connection to the Paul-Löbe-Haus

The Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus and the Paul-Löbe-Haus form an architectural eye-catcher. This unity is created both by the matching roof edges of the buildings and by the bridge that connects them, known as the "leap across the Spree".

Function of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus

The Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus houses the scientific service center with the scientific services, the parliamentary library, the parliamentary archives, the press documentation and the subject and speech register.
