The pier at the East Side Gallery is hard to miss: It is located in front of the indoor arena Uber Arena and within sight of the iconic Oberbaumbrücke that connects the districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. In close vicinity to the East Side Gallery, on the opposite bank of the river Spree, is the area known as Schlesisches Tor. Named after one of the former city gates, it is well-known for its bars, cafés and the bohemian lifestyle of its inhabitants.
