Experience 750 years of Berlin’s Christmas traditions on a festive walking tour through Berlin's Nikolaiviertel.

The tour through the Nikolaiviertel district brings 750 years of Christmas traditions in Berlin to life. The historic district with its cobbled streets and festive lights is the perfect backdrop for a Christmas city tour. The customs surrounding christmas have changed steadily over the centuries. Whether pagan winter solstice fires, magnificent Catholic celebrations or Nazi propaganda – Christmas celebrations were and are shaped by changing beliefs and ideologies. On the tour, participants will not only encounter historical figures such as Frederick the Great, Lessing and Heinrich Zille, but also folk heroes and ghostly apparitions. To round off the tour, you’ll have the option to warm up with a festive mulled wine (Glühwein) at a traditional Christmas stall.

• Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes: the tour takes place entirely outdoors in winter.
• Please be at the meeting point 10 minutes before the tour starts. The guide can be recognised by their orange umbrella.
• Well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome, as long as they do not disturb the group. Assistance dogs are, of course, always allowed.
