Once to the Olympic Stadium and back: more than 10,000 runners take part in Germany's oldest city run every year.
Still under the name "25 km de Berlin", the city run took place for the first time on May 3, 1981. It was founded by the French Major Bride. In 2008, "Berlin läuft!" took over the event as the new organizer. While participants initially only ran a 25-kilometre course through Berlin, the program has since been expanded to include a children's run, a 10-kilometre course, a 5x5 km relay and a half marathon. The 5-kilometer run (individual and team classification) is still quite new.
As the motorway bridge on the A100 ring road remains closed, participants will once again be unable to run through Berlin city centre this year. The 25-kilometre route runs mainly through the Grunewald, including sections along Heerstraße, Havelchaussee and Kronprinzessinnenweg.
