Winegrowers from Germany and Austria present their wines and celebrate the 650th anniversary of the district of Lichtenrade with the festival participants.
This year, winegrowers from small, self-marketing family wineries from all over Germany - from the Rheingau to the Moselle - and others from Austria are coming to the traditional wine and winegrowers' festival in Berlin-Lichtenrade around the picturesque village pond. They will be presenting their wines produced in the old winemaking tradition. Visitors can enjoy the products and engage in conversation at around 100 stands. With specialties fresh from the grill, spaetzle from the pan and soups from the pot, hand bread from Rawiel, sourdough flatbread and pasta from the cheese loaf, you can eat your fill.
The German Wine Princess Katharina Gräff opens the Wine and Vintners' Festival on Friday with a tour. The Höfische Gesellschaft Lichtenrade contributes historical items to the festival. It presents life in the Middle Ages with historical costumes, crafts and dances.
Artisans and manufacturers offer fine handmade products such as patchwork, jewelry, ceramics, scented soaps, art prints, paintings, photographs or sculptures and melt-in-the-mouth chocolates, regional honey and crispy breads. The varied music program from Wäscheleinophon to Jazzpolizei ensures atmospheric moments right by the water.
