From the internationally renowned Berlinale to smaller festivals revolving around a particular genre or country, Berlin's film festivals offer many highlights for cineastes and movie lovers. more
With feature films, documentaries, and short films, the festival showcases the breadth of Ukrainian cinema. German premieres are regularly held. The theme for 2026 is “Emergency Spaces” and focuses on orientation, refuge, and solidarity in times of uncertainty and social upheaval. The documentary “The Illusion of a Quiet Night” is being screened at the opening. The film depicts a summer night during the war and will be followed by a Q&A with the director.
