interfilm Berlin

Every year in autumn, the International Short Film Festival attracts cinephiles from all over the world to Berlin. The festival presents about 400 films from over 120 countries.

The Short Film Festival Berlin (Kurzfilmfestival) is the second most significant film festival in Berlin after the Berlinale. Every year, the team around festival director Heinz Hermanns selects the participating short films from around 6000 submissions from over 120 countries. With 20,000 visitors and many international guests, the Interfilm Short Film Festival is the largest of its kind in Berlin and an important global institution in the field of short film.

Short Film Festival Competitions

In addition to the international and German competition, there is also a competition for documentary films. The films in the ‘Confrontations’ programs provide insights into socio-political backgrounds around the world. The competitions ‘Eject - the long night of offbeat film’ and the ‘Green Screen Award’ are also back. Over 60 programmes, events, talks, panels, workshops and parties and 10 locations await the audience at the 38th edition of Interfilm.
