Critics' Week

Desire Lines

The Serbian film "Desire Lines" will be shown at Critics' Week.

The Woche der Kritik (Critics' Week) puts film criticism on the agenda: it shows films that stimulate debate, controversy and lively discussion.

Critics' Week is an annual film festival with an accompanying discussion program that has been held since 2015, traditionally coinciding with the Berlinale. The focus is on a critically curated film program, with one internationally unreleased film being shown each day. The screenings are often accompanied by panel discussions with guests from the fields of film criticism, film studies, and cultural debate. The discussions focus on questions such as how we watch films, what films we want to see, and what cinema is all about in general.

Counterpoint to the Berlinale

The festival sees itself as an intellectual and sensual counterpoint to the hustle and bustle of the Berlinale. During Critics' Week, films are not only shown, but also discussed and reflected upon in terms of film culture, society, and politics.
