The Captured House

The exhibition «The Captured House» shows works by contemporary Ukrainian artists who document in real time the humanitarian catastrophe triggered by the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine.

The exhibition «The Captured House» at the Alte Münze aims to familiarise the Berlin public with the works of Alevtina Kakhidze, Vlada Ralko, Igor Gusev, Anton Logov, Gamlet Zinkivskyi, Kinder Album and other Ukrainian artists. After the Russian attack on 24 February 2022, some of them stayed in the combat zone - in Kyiv and its surroundings, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv, Kherson, among others - to continue living and working there. The exhibition presents paintings, drawings and photographs as a chronicle of the war in Ukraine. «The Captured House» is shown in the basement of the Alte Münze and thus spans the arc to the Ukrainian bunkers, where people have already been hiding for more than 2 months.
