As part of the Municipal Galleries' Art Week, 36 venues are opening their doors to showcase the works of 150 artists.
A supporting program of concerts, lectures, guided tours, performances and artist talks complements the exhibitions. Visitors can look forward to works from a wide variety of artistic styles, some presented in a classical manner and others in an unconventional way.
To kick off the Art Week, the opening party will take place on October 2 at Acud Macht Neu. Selin Davasse will kick off the evening with "Biting," her work on domesticated animals such as lab mice, honeybees and city pigeons. Following that, Carlo Karacho will perform his album "Der letzte Ritt durchs Nadelöhr" live. The program also features a DJ set by Edna Martinez and music by DJs from the Arbeitskreis Kommunale Galerien Berlin.
On October 11, two bus tours, one subway tour, one tram tour, and one walking tour will take visitors to various galleries in the districts. At each location, gallery directors, curators, and artists will welcome guests and provide information about the galleries’ current exhibitions and program highlights.
During the Art Week, various workshops will be offered for children and teens. Among other things, the kids will gain creative insights into art forms such as photography, comic book drawing, collage, painting and more. Registration is required to participate in most workshops.
