A central element of the Brazilian folk festival Festa Junina is, of course, the music. But traditional food, folklore and games will also represent Brazil's rural culture on the grounds of the Festsaal Kreuzberg.

Festa Junina transforms the Festsaal Kreuzberg into a Brazilian festival grounds for one day and one night. The program features concerts, DJ sets, dance workshops, traditional dances, games and numerous hands-on activities for all ages.

A little piece of Brazil in Berlin

According to the organizers, the Festa Junina is the biggest festival in Brazil. "People wear costumes modeled after the traditional clothing of Brazil's rural population. The women’s dresses and skirts are colorful and sometimes patched. Straw hats, fake freckles, and braids are part of the look. The entire day of the festival is spent with fun games, pranks, drinking, eating and dancing. Unlike Carnival, this tradition is known to only a few people outside of Brazil," says Paula Daunt, co-founder and organizer of the Berlin festival.
