According to the organizers, the Festa Junina is the biggest festival in Brazil. "People wear costumes that are modeled on the clothing worn by Brazil's rural population in the past. The women's dresses and skirts are colorful and sometimes have patches. Straw hats, fake freckles and plaits are used. The entire festive day is spent with fun games, fooling around, drinking, eating and dancing. Unlike carnival, this tradition is only known to a few people outside Brazil," says co-founder and organizer of the Berlin festival Paula Daunt.
