The Berlin Independent Film Festival champions low-budget filmmaking in Europe by giving new directors the opportunity to screen their work and swap ideas.
As a growing forum for low-budget independent film in Europe, the Berlin Independent Film Festival (BIFF) offers plenty of screening and business opportunities for up-and-coming filmmakers. The exciting programme of films, workshops and networking events combines the commitment to indie filmmaking ideals with a solid understanding of their potential in the marketplace.

The competition of the Berlin Independent Film Festival includes several categories, among them feature, documentary, sci-fi/horror, LGBT film, short film, animated short, and music video. All films are screened at the Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte and are in English or with English subtitles. The Berlin Independent Film Festival and the Berlinale run at the same time but are not connected.
