The four-day festival is one of the largest hubs for Franco-German jazz exchange and takes place annually in Berlin.
The Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin has long since developed its own dynamic, its own charm and its own urgency. Initially, the Berlin edition of the festival may have been a French showcase in the German capital. But those days are long gone.
Festival director Philippe Ochem has developed a philosophy that highlights the similarities and special features of the two cities of Berlin and Strasbourg in a unique way. Berlin was divided between East and West, Strasbourg went back and forth between Germany and France several times. Today, Strasbourg is the political center of Europe, while Berlin is increasingly being proclaimed a cultural center of contemporary Europe.
