After more than two decades, Spreepark is making a comeback. The former amusement park is being transformed into a place for art, culture, nature and recreation.
The Ferris wheel is spinning again, and new venues are taking shape: In the spring of 2027, Spreepark in Plänterwald will reopen following a redesign. Instead of a traditional amusement park, the 23-hectare site is now home to a public park that combines nature, art, culture and recreation.
The centerpiece, however, remains the 45-meter-tall Ferris wheel with its 40 gondolas, which has been renovated and redesigned. The English Village is also being rebuilt and will be used as an event venue in the future. The former factory building is being transformed into a cultural and community center for exhibitions, workshops, markets and festivals. In addition, open-air events will take place in the amphitheater.
The redesign will preserve and reinterpret historical elements of the former amusement park. At the same time, sustainability and the connection between nature and culture will play a central role. For example, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the workshop, while rainwater will be collected and used, among other things, to irrigate the green spaces.
