The soccer highlight of the year is the DFB Cup final at Berlin's Olympic Stadium.
64 teams (36 clubs from the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, as well as 28 teams from the lower leagues) compete in five rounds to reach the DFB Cup Final (German: DFB-Pokal). The matchups are determined by a draw held in early June each year. Matches are played from August through April, with the cup final taking place in late May or early June. The DFB Cup winner qualifies for the UEFA Europa League.
The DFB-Pokal final marks the end of the Bundesliga season every year. Time and again, sensational moments go down in history when two teams face off in the DFB-Pokal final. There have been countless unusual scoring opportunities, but these are precisely what give the DFB-Pokal its special appeal. The record holder for DFB Cup titles is Bayern Munich with 17 wins, followed by Werder Bremen and FC Schalke 04.
Demand for tickets to the DFB Cup Final is very high every year. The application period for the 2026 DFB Cup Final has not yet opened. Due to high demand, tickets are allocated by lottery each year. Soccer fans could apply for a maximum of four tickets through the German Football Association (DFB).
