In Köpenick, the Christmas season starts early: The Christmas market in front of the church in Oberschöneweide traditionally opens its doors on the Saturday before the first Advent.
The non-profit Christmas market gives charities and local associations the opportunity to showcase their work and sell Christmas gifts, toys, handmade decorations and all sorts of festive knickknacks.
Brass music spreads a festive atmosphere at the Christmas market. There is a craft room for younger visitors. Further activities for children can be found in the elementary school on the Wuhlheide next to the Christuskirche, where a Christmas market is taking place at the same time. Traditionally, the Christmas bazaar ends at 6 p.m. with a closing concert.
