The Lucia Christmas market is named after the Nordic goddess of light. Set up at a former brewery from the 19th century, the market welcomes visitors with traditional Scandinavian handicrafts, food, drinks and an entertainment programme.
The historic brick buildings of the old brewery form a spectacular backdrop to the festively decorated and carefully curated market stalls. While market-goers explore the offers, music from Scandinavia and the smells of Scandinavian and German Christmas foods and drinks evoke the right atmosphere.
Among the standards of the Lucia market are the many Swedish fire logs and an art installation that helps visitors fight the cold. At the so-called "open-air coat heater", market-goers can slip on coats that have been warmed by a wood-fired oven.
The Lucia Christmas market is great for children too: The little ones can bounce on a bungee trampoline, explore a small knight's castle and enjoy a ride on a historic swing carousel. In the evenings, Santa Claus pays the market a visit, accepts Christmas wishes and hands out sweets.
