Every year, Alexanderplatz is the perfect place to get into the Christmas spirit. In 2026, the popular market will be divided into two clearly defined areas.
Two contrasting approaches come together to create a greater whole – that is the aim of the Christmas market on Alexanderplatz. For years, the market has been a hit thanks to its festive, fairground atmosphere. In 2026, it will be taking a different direction with a new concept.
A traditional Christmas village is set up around the Fountain of Friendship between Nations; complete with winding alleys, warm lights, a nostalgic children’s carousel and stalls selling arts and crafts. In the evening, the fountain is beautifully illuminated and accompanied by music – the very essence of the Christmas spirit!
Just a few metres away, at the World Clock, a kitsch-free zone begins. This urban experience offers a cosmopolitan take on Christmas. Visitors can look forward to street food from around the world, a synthetic curling rink and photo mirrors. The Christmas spirit is still very much present, though it is more subdued than in the area around the Fountain of Friendship between Nations.
