Visiting Berlin during Covid-19: What Tourists Need to Know

If you are planning to travel to Berlin, here is what you will need to know and expect during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Berlin is welcoming tourists again and, despite some restrictions, sights, restaurants, cinemas, museums are open and happy to welcome visitors.

Berlin Hotels: Always Well Connected Thanks to Public Transport

Berlin's hotels, hostels and inns are ideal starting points for an eventful city trip. From luxury hotels to inexpensive guesthouses, in the city center or the suburbs - thanks to Berlin's excellent public transport network, the whole city can be easily explored from wherever you're staying. Subways, buses, light rail trains and trams run every day in very short intervals, some even 24/7. Visitors need to be aware that FFP2 masks are mandatory on public transport. But no need to worry: thanks to fast and convenient connections, your journey won't be long and most destinations and sights will be reached quickly.

Open-Air Attractions in Berlin

The Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial or the East Side Gallery - many of Berlin's sights are located in the open air and can be visited without any restrictions. The famous Reichstag with its glass dome is open to visitors again as well. Germany's tallest building - the TV Tower on Alexanderplatz - is also welcoming visitors again.

Enjoy Berlin's Broad Cultural Spectrum

The numerous tourists flocking to Berlin every year are not only interested in the historic sights but also the city's diverse cultural scene. The city's world-class museums, galleries, theatres, opera houses, cinemas and concert venues are open for visitors again. The spectrum of exhibitions is so broad that everyone it guaranteed to get their money's worth here. Cultural, sports or recreational events are permitted without restrictions on the number of people or special access requirements. There is no general mask requirement. Some cultural events and certain museums and theatres have decided to continue the compulsory wearing of masks. Please inform yourself about the individuak regulations before your visit.

Take a Break in Berlin's Parks and Gardens

Those who need a little relaxation and are looking for peace and quiet will find it in Berlin's many beautiful parks and gardens. In addition to the city's "green lung", the Tiergarten, you can discover nature in full bloom in every corner of the city. For lovers of exotic plants and beautiful gardens, the Botanical Garden and the Gardens of the World are a must-see. The Park Tempelhofer Feld on the grounds of the former airport is an inviting space to take a break among locals.

Clubbing and Nightlife: Let's Dance Again

Night owls rejoice: Berlin's famous nightlife is back in full swing. Restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars are allowed to welcome guests in outdoor and indoor areas. The large Berlin show stages may also welcome audiences again. Berlin clubs are allowed to hold dance events again. Since April 01, 2022, no restrictions or mask requirements apply.
