Berlin – Buenos Aires city partnership - From the Spree River to the Rio de la Plata – From fall to spring
Around 20 young musicians from the Leo-Kestenberg Musikschule, a music school in Tempelhof-Schöneberg, will travel to Argentina with their conductor, Alexander Ramm, in the first half of October to return a visit made by young Argentinians. They will play music with members of the Orquestas Juveniles of the city of Buenos Aires, continuing the youth orchestra exchange that began more than a year ago. You can read about the Argentinian visit to Berlin in May 2012 here.
The IX International Buenos Aires Theater Festival (FIBA) will take place in Buenos Aires from 5 to 9 October 2013, and two theaters from Berlin are participating: the Schaubühne is sending Henrik Ibsen’s “Ein Volksfeind” (An Enemy of the People), adapted by Florian Borchmeyer and directed by Thomas Ostermeier, and the Deutsches Theater will be performing Dea Loher’s “Diebe” (Thieves), directed by Andreas Kriegenburg.
A return visit to Buenos Aires in the context of our climate partnership, which focuses on energy management in public buildings, energy efficiency, and saving energy, is planned for mid-October. It is one of the “50 Municipal Climate Partnerships by 2015” being organized and coordinated by the service agency “Communities in One World” (SKEW)/Engagement Global gGmbH. “Hip Hop Stützpunkt” will be representing Berlin from 22 to 24 November 2013 at “Meeting of Styles,” an international graffiti event sponsored by the city of Buenos Aires.
