30th anniversary of the Weimar Triangle

30 Jahre Weimarer Dreieck

Dzień dobry, bonjour, and guten Tag – hello!

This year, the Weimar Triangle, a German-French-Polish friendship agreement, is marking its 30th anniversary. The Weimar Triangle’s 30 years mean 30 years of encounters and political and cultural cooperation. That’s a reason to celebrate! The Berlin Senate Chancellery and the Centre Français de Berlin are very pleased to invite you to an open-air event, the “30th anniversary of the Weimar Triangle – A German-French-Polish festival,” which will be held on 27 August 2021 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Centre Français de Berlin.

Along with enjoying a varied music and cultural program featuring artists from each of the three countries, visitors will also have the chance to find out more about the work of the German-French and German-Polish associations in Berlin at the “Market of Possibilities”; try a range of culinary specialties from Germany, France, and Poland; or chat with others over a glass of Polish beer or French red wine.

There will be a few highlights for younger visitors as well. The federal state of Berlin is helping to fund the event.

A youth music exchange between Paris, Warsaw, and Berlin will be marking this anniversary from 20 to 28 August 2021 at the Centre Français de Berlin. Here young musicians from the three countries will have an opportunity to get acquainted and make music together. We’re especially looking forward to the results of their exchange, since the three bands will be putting on a joint concert at the festival. The project is being funded by the Franco-German Youth Office.

Please register in advance at www.eventbrite.de. Admission is free, but you will need to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, recovery, or a negative test within the last 24 hours.

The festival will kick off a series of activities in honor of the Centre’s 60th anniversary this year. The French allies built this cultural center in the northern part of Wedding, and it stands not only for Berlin’s history, but for a solidarity-based, outward-looking city as well.
