On 5 November 2020, the German Embassy officially presented a shipment of medical supplies from Berlin to Jakarta.

With this shipment of disposable face masks, FFP 2 masks, and sterile cotton-wool swabs used for COVID-19 tests, Berlin was responding to a request for help from its partner city and providing assistance to two municipal hospitals during the pandemic.

In a press release, Jakarta’s Governor Anies Baswedan thanked Berlin and underscored the strong ties between the two partner cities. Governor Baswedan also emphasized the importance of international solidarity in fighting the global COVID-19 pandemic. In this spirit, Berlin and Jakarta are standing shoulder to shoulder.
