The Thomas Mann House in Los Angeles views itself as a vibrant place of transatlantic debate in which outstanding personalities engage with one another and with their host country to pursue fundamental political, social, and cultural questions facing society both now and in the future.

Fellowship applications for a 3- to 10-month stay at the Thomas Mann House in 2022 can be submitted until 28 February 2021.

Scholars from the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, technology, and economics, writers, and thought leaders and intellectuals in non-academic fields such as culture, politics, media, and business are welcome to apply. Applicants should live in Germany or have lived there in the past for an extended period. An independent advisory committee appointed by the board of trustees of the Villa Aurora & Thomas Mann House e.V. will choose the fellows.

The Thomas Mann House is part of the registered association Villa Aurora und Thomas Mann House e.V., whose project “The Sanctuary: Art and Literature from Exile and Hermitage” was co-funded by the Senate Chancellery in 2020 and 2021.
