This season, we are combining two of the SIM's current research focuses in a series: musical interpretation and performance spaces of music. The debates in both areas regularly converge, indeed in many cases they cannot do without each other. For as relevant as the function of spatiality is for central questions of interpretation and as essential as the conditions of space are for sounding music in general, insights into the concrete practice of music performances and the type of music performed are also decisive for questions of spatiality.

Short introductions to each topic, vivid demonstrations live or in another medium and discussions with the audience will complement each other in different ways.

In July, we bid farewell to Heinz von Loesch on his retirement, giving us every reason to celebrate our longstanding colleague and the spiritus rector of interpretation research at SIM.

Responsible and always present: Heinz von Loesch, Jo Wilhelm Siebert, Olga Sutkowska and Rebecca Wolf.

On four of the above dates, there will be an opportunity to take part in a tour of the SIM's acoustic rooms at 4.45 pm. Contribution towards expenses € 3.
