A Female Immigration Story from Turkey to Berlin-Mitte

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the recruitment agreement between Turkey and Germany, women who immigrated from Turkey tell their own immigration stories.

The Mitte district hides a large, female immigrant history that is discovered through reportage. This historical and visual cultural project at the Mitte Museum will focus on the migration process of women of Turkish origin from the 1960s and today. How did you experience arriving in your new homeland back then? And how do new migrant women experience the process 60 years later? What strategies were successful and how can we continue to support their search for their new home?

The aim is to build up a collection of neighbourhood history from the women's private stories and to make them speak. (Burcu Argat, curator of the exhibition)
