Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" - a fairytale love story

The fabulous "Swan Lake" story of the enchanted Princess Odette with the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is one of the great, timeless classics of ballet. The "Swan Lake" requires on the one hand dance excellence, on the other hand acting talent - and both implemented with playful ease. The story tells of Prince Siegfried, who on the eve of his 21st birthday observes a swarm of wild swans and decides to go hunting. Before that, his mother admonished him to choose a wife at the ball tomorrow. When the prince takes his shot, the most graceful of the swans turns into a beautiful woman. It is Odette. She was enchanted by the sorcerer Red Beard and can only be freed by the oath of eternal fidelity and honest love. The prince promises to make this oath. But Red Beard overheard the couple. He prevents Odette from appearing at the ball and instead smuggles his daughter Odile into the ball in the shape of the (now black-clad) Swan Queen. The deception succeeds. When Red Beard reveals the deception, Siegfried, horrified, hurries to the lake. In the last act he meets the real Odette and the sorcerer Red Beard. A final battle for true love begins.

Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" - the wonderful Christmas classic

The famous story after E.T.A. Hoffmann is about the girl Clara who on Christmas Eve receives a large doll, a nutcracker soldier, as a gift. At night the nutcracker suddenly comes to life - but not only him. With an army of tin soldiers, the nutcracker has to defend himself against the mouse king and his mouse troops in the Christmassy decorated living room. Clara hurries to help him and the saved nutcracker turns into a prince before her eyes. After a hike through the winter forest, the two celebrate a sweet and exuberant party at the jam castle until dawn. With its nostalgic charm, "Der Nussknacker" offers the perfect setting for the coming Christmas.
