Now the music of Les Miserables is coming back to Berlin as a concert musical. The special thing about the performance is that the people on stage are the centre of attention and neither scenery nor other effects distract from them.
In "The Music of Les Misérables" this has been achieved quite brilliantly, not least because of the exceptionally well chosen cast.
The show comes most alive when the entire company enters the stage. The orchestra, conducted by Stephen Ellery, impresses again and again and lets the great vocal performances of 15 soloists and the chorus shine with wonderful sounds.
"Les Misérables" by Boublil/Schönberg is the longest running musical in the world. Hardly any other musical has this magic of moving and sensitive melodies and this overall drama that no one can escape. The most famous of these are "I Dreamed a Dream", "One Day More", "Do you Hear the People Sing" and "On My Own".
A new song was composed especially for Hugh Jackman for the world film success of 2012. "Suddenly" won the Oscar for best film song of the year and of course it cannot be missing from this extraordinary concert!
Also extraordinary is the fact that original scenes from the 2012 worldwide film success will be shown on the big screen at this concert - in cooperation with Universal Pictures.
The Music of Les Misérables - this all-star concert event hits the heart!
