A Beethoven evening with the National Youth Orchestra of Germany

Beethoven meets the avant-garde: the National Youth Orchestra of Germany integrates two pieces by contemporary composers into its performance of Beethoven’s “Eroica”, one of the most frequently performed symphonies of the Viennese classicist: Brett Dean’s Testament and Mark Barden’s the weight of ash, which approach Beethoven in very different ways. When he composed his “Eroica”, he was considered the great musical innovator of his time: and even today, the heroic spirit of his work is powerful and revolutionary.

Artists/Collaborators: Christoph Altstaedt, Adrian Pereyra
