Spangenberg plays Nirvana
The idea of performing songs by the grunge band only on the piano is both plausible and unimaginable. Two worlds collide that could not be more distant and yet are emotionally very close.

The songs of the globally acclaimed garage rock band from the early 90s with distorted guitars and screaming voices are full of punk, dirt and drugs. The grand piano, with its classical grace, belongs in a different milieu. It is rather the clarity and sensitivity that makes this instrument resonate. It's hard to imagine what would have happened if Kurt Cobain had not only spat on Elton John's piano at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, but perhaps even played it.
Spangenberg plays Nirvana - where hard rock songs meet soft piano notes
The noble piano, just like all the band's other instruments, would probably have fallen victim to the musicians' destructive mania. Christoph Spangenberg will hopefully not destroy the grand piano, but will nevertheless use every means at his disposal to bring the strong songs such as ‘About A Girl’, ‘Come As You Are’ or ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ to the 88 keys in his own way. Without drums, without bass, without vocals. Instead, he has years of experience in a wide variety of musical fields, from jazz to hip-hop to techno. He will also need this diversity in order to fulfil his ambitious plan of interpreting exclusively material from the band ‘Nirvana’. An honest bow to one of the most influential bands in rock history.
