This was announced by Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) on Monday (December 20, 2021). "We are shortening the minimum deadline for boosters to 3 months. It makes no sense to refuse people willing to get their booster shot when earlier boosting is recommended," Kalayci wrote on Twitter. "We are at very critical stage before the Omicron wave where every booster shot counts. Expect timely Stiko recommendation."
Kalayci expects that the Standing Commission on Vaccination (Stiko) will also recommend a shorter deadline. "We expect the Stiko to decide shortly," she told the Tagesspiegel newspaper. "That would be a good decision." 1.1 million people have already received a third Covid vaccination in Berlin. Kalayci leaves office on Tuesday, because that is when the new Senate begins its work.
