Coronavirus incidence down, hospitalization rate high

The number of new Coronavirus infections in Berlin is declining, but the situation in hospitals remains tense.

At 22.9 percent, just under one in four ICU beds is occupied by a Covid-19 patient. These statistics were published in the Senate's status report on Thursday (Dec. 16, 2021). Numbers are slightly down compared to 24.1 percent last Thursday, but the corresponding traffic light in the Senate's alert system remains red.
5.7 people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized with a Coronavirusi nfection in the past seven days; a week ago, the value of this so-called hospitalization incidence was 4.1. Berlin's health offices reported 2271 new Covid-19 infections within one day, around 350 fewer than a week ago. The seven-day incidence of Coronavirus in Berlin was at 288.1, compared to 352.8 last Thursday. The incidence is particularly high in the districts of Spandau and Treptow-Köpenick, and relatively low in Steglitz-Zehlendorf and Neukölln.
