The managing director of the Berlin and Brandenburg trade association, Nils Busch-Petersen, announced in the newspaper "Berliner Morgenpost" (December 12, 2021) that easier shopping is to be made possible by a so-called wristband regulation. After an initial control at the entrance, customers in shopping malls will be able to obtain a daily wristband which allows them to then enter stores without having to show their vaccination card again.

Wristband scheme to ease the burden on employees

"We hope this will ease the burden on retail employees and take some of the pressure off," Busch-Petersen said. The stores would have to clearly regulate the exact framework conditions individualle. The first shopping malls are said to have already adopted this model.

«Berlin regulations allow it»

A spokesman for the health administration said on Sunday: "There are no objections from our side. The regulations in Berlin allow it." In Berlin, only vaccinated and recovered people have access to most stores as it is. A negative test result is no longer enough. Exempt form this rule are stores for important daily supplies such as supermarkets, drugstores, and pharmacies.
