According to the latest data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the figure on Wednesday morning (08 December 2021) was 342.7. The figure indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have demonstrably been newly infected with the virus in the past seven days. According to the RKI, the figure was 336.8 on Tuesday, but 370.2 on Wednesday a week ago.
Meanwhile, the situation in intensive care units remains worrying. 23.2 per cent of intensive care beds were occupied by Covid 19 patients on Wednesday. A week ago, the corresponding occupancy rate was below 20 per cent. From this value onwards, the corresponding Corona traffic light of the Senate shows red and thus signals an urgent need for action.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, the health offices in Berlin registered 2910 new infections, according to the RKI. The number of infected people since the beginning of the pandemic thus rose to 290,582. Ten more people have also been proven to have died in connection with Covid-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the RKI thus counted 3877 Corona deaths in the capital.
More covid patients continue to be admitted to hospitals in Berlin. The Senate gave the seven-day hospitalisation incidence on Wednesday as 4.4. The value indicates how many out of 100,000 people are hospitalised with a covid disease within seven days.
