In the future, only vaccinated and recovered people will be allowed to enter Berlin's Christmas markets. A negative test will no longer suffice.

This was announced by Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) on Tuesday (November 30, 2021) after the Senate meeting. As things stand, the mask requirement at Christmas markets remains in place. In addition, some markets, such as the Christmas market at Gendarmenmarkt, require all visitors to provide a negative Coronavirus test.
The Senate agreed on further restrictions, such as lower caps on events and contact restrictions for the unvaccinated, on Tuesday (Nov. 30, 2021). However, a decision has not yet been reached. Kalayci explained that the Senate wants to wait for the results of the federal-state consultations and possible changes to the legal framework at the federal level. Furthermore, the approval of the House of Representatives is necessary. A Senate decision is to be passed this week.
