Coronavirus incidence in Berlin remains below national average

The Coronavirus incidence in Berlin remains high, but below the national average. According to the latest data provided by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) early Wednesday morning, the seven-day incidence value was 348.6, about the same as the day before (349).

The nationwide incidence was 404.5. The seven-day incidence indicates the number of new Coronavirus infections per 100,000 inhabitants during the past seven days. According to the Senate's situation report, the hospitalization incidence in Berlin reached a value of 4.1, up from 3.4 in early November. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized within a week of a Coronavirus infection. according to the latest figures, 18.8 percent of intensive care beds were occupied by Covid-19 patients; at the beginning of the month it was 11.7 percent.

According to the RKI data, 2,867 new Corona cases were registered in Berlin compared to the previous day. This brings the total to 262,313 Covid infections since the beginning of the pandemic. The RKI statistics also report four additional Covid-related deaths. Thus, according to the data, so far 3,788 Berliners have died from or with the virus.
