Coronavirus incidence in Berlin has risen again

After a slight decrease the day before, the number of Coronavirus infections in Berlin has risen again. The current incidence value was 118.7 on Tuesday morning, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute.

On Monday (October 25, 2021), the incidence value was 114.9, while on Sunday it was 115.2. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been proven to be infected with the virus within seven days. The numbers had recently also increased significantly nationwide. In Berlin, the value was still at 92.5 on Monday of the previous week.
Concerning the 7-day incidence, the Coronavirus warning light, which uses a traffic light color code, is flashing red. In contrast, the value for hospitalization incidence is set to green at 3.6, according to the Coronavirus situation report released by the Senate of Berlin on Tuesday. The latter figure indicates how many people per 100,000 were hospitalized within a week after a Covid-19 infection. Concertning the ICU bed occupancy among Covid-19 patients, the warning light flashes yellow, with the current number at 9.7 percent. The traffic light system is intended to warn when the Corona situation is developing critically.

According to the RKI data, there were 995 newly reported Corona cases in Berlin on Tuesday compared to the previous day. The RKI has however not registered any additional deaths related to Covid-19. Since the start of the pandemic, 3677 people have died in Berlin from or with the disease. A total of 218,121 people have been infected with the virus since then.
