The corona incidence in Berlin is stagnating at a high level. On 28 August 2021, it was 74.2 according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the virus within the past seven days. The previous day, the value was 75.8 after a significant increase this week.

According to the RKI, 414 new cases were registered. This brings the total number of people infected with Corona in Berlin to 191,704 since the beginning of the pandemic. As more and more people are vaccinated and thus protected from severe courses, the significance of the seven-day incidence decreases. Almost 60 per cent of Berliners are now considered fully vaccinated, according to the state of Berlin's situation report on Saturday.

For this reason, the number of hospital admissions, i.e. how many people infected with Corona had to undergo inpatient treatment, is to be focused on in the future. So far, however, these figures have not been available for Berlin. The state does indicate how high the occupancy rate of beds in intensive care units is. On Friday, this was 4.6 percent and thus in the green zone. The number of people who died in the capital in connection with Covid-19 was given by the RKI on Saturday as 3592. This is one case more than the previous day.
