The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the virus within the past seven days. At the beginning of the week, the value in Berlin had declined somewhat and was 67.3 on Wednesday. Since then, it has risen again significantly. According to the RKI, 345 new cases were registered in the capital between Thursday and Friday. This brings the total number of people infected with Corona in Berlin to 191,290 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Almost 60% of the population is fully vaccinated

However, since more and more people are vaccinated and thus protected from severe courses, the significance of the seven-day incidence is declining. Almost 59 per cent of Berliners are now considered fully vaccinated, according to the state of Berlin's situation report on Thursday.

Utilisation of intensive care units in the green zone

For this reason, the number of hospital admissions, i.e. how many people infected with Corona had to undergo inpatient treatment, is to be focused on in the future. So far, however, these figures have not been available for Berlin. The state does indicate how high the occupancy rate of beds in intensive care units is. On Thursday, this was 4.5 per cent and thus in the green zone. The number of people who have died in the capital in connection with Covid-19, however, was adjusted downwards by the RKI by 6 on Friday. Thus, 3591 people have died in Berlin so far from or with the disease, which is triggered by the virus.
