Mask obligation extended at Berlin schools

Berlin schoolchildren, as well as teachers and other school staff, are now obliged to wear a medical face mask at school until at least 5 September.

The compulsory wearing of masks, initially ordered for the first two weeks after the holidays, has been extended for another 14 days, announced the Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) on 17 August 2021 after the Senate meeting. He said this was necessary for Corona infection protection and thus important to ensure safe school operations in Präsenz. "We remain cautious." The regulation will continue to be reviewed with experts on an ongoing basis, the education administration added.
