This was announced by Senate spokeswoman Melanie Reinsch upon request. Until then, the federal emergency brake stipulates that it is generally forbidden to leave one's home between 10 pm and 5 am. The prerequisite for relaxation steps is that the seven-day incidence remains below the important threshold of 100 for five working days in a row. The federal emergency brake then no longer applies on the day after next.

According to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Monday, the value in Berlin was 68.6 and thus below the 100 mark for the fifth working day. The Senate decided on Friday that there should be initial relaxations for this case from Wednesday (19 May 2021). Among other things, outdoor tourist offers will be possible again. These include, for example, city tours and boat trips. The seven-day incidence indicates how many new infections per 100,000 inhabitants were reported in one week.
