Status report: Situation in intensive care units eases up

As of 04 May 2021, 24.7 per cent of intensive care beds were occupied by Covid-19 patients, according to the Senate Department of Health's situation report.

This means that the Corona traffic light for the intensive care units is yellow again; on Monday it was still red with 26 percent occupancy. The critical threshold is 25 percent. Berlin is still in the red zone in terms of the seven-day incidence rate, which, however, continued to fall towards the 100 threshold: on Tuesday, the number of infected persons per 100,000 inhabitants within one week was 111.2, compared to 121.7 on Monday and 136.5 on Tuesday a week ago.
The 100 mark for the seven-day incidence is considered an important threshold for the federal emergency brake. If the value is below this for five days in a row, relaxations of the Corona regulations are possible again, for example in the retail sector. Since the federal emergency brake came into force, the incidence value has been based on the data of the Robert Koch Institute.
The number of registered Corona infected people in Berlin increased by 730 to a total of 170 295 people since the beginning of the pandemic. Five more people died, bringing the total number of corona virus-related deaths to 3233.
