Incidence continues to fall: 742 new infections in Berlin
In Berlin, 742 new infections with the coronavirus were registered between Wednesday and Thursday. No further deaths were initially reported, according to the current situation report of the Senate Administration.
The previous day, the number of new infections was still more than 1,000. The incidence value also decreased in the same period. It describes how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the virus in the past seven days. On Thursday, it was 130.2 in Berlin, compared to 134.0 on Wednesday. Since the law on nationwide Corona restrictions, the value is based on figures from the Robert Koch Institute.
The number of people infected in Berlin since the start of the pandemic last year was reported at 167 843, of which 154 101 people are considered to have recovered. 3210 people have died so far in connection with Corona. The burden on Berlin's intensive care units remains high: at 25.9 percent, more than a quarter of intensive care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients. On Wednesday, it was still 26.4 percent.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, 24.6 per cent of Berlin's population had been vaccinated against the virus at least once by Tuesday. 9.05 percent had already received the second dose.
